During her time in Memphis, she enjoyed volunteering at St. Jude's Children's Hospital. She also spent time at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital where she participated in an undergraduate pediatric internship, as well as outside research in infection disease with a focus in RSV. In 2004, she relocated to Houston, TX to pursue her medical doctorate at The University of Texas Health Science Center Houston. During medical school she participated in teaching through the JAMP undergraduate pre-med program with a focus in embryology. She was also a member of the American Medical Women's Association and graduated in the top 1/3 of her class. Given her ongoing love of caring for women through different seasons of life, she pursued her intern and residency training the Obstetrics and Gynecology. She completed her training from the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston and Memorial Hermann Hospital in 2012. During her time in training, she served on the residency selection committee and was selected as Outstanding Chief Resident in Laparoscopic and Minimally Invasive Surgery.
