His clinical and academic interests include the multimodality treatment of pancreatic cancer, and comparative effectiveness of open and robotic approaches to gastrointestinal cancers in general and pancreatic cancer in particular. He received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland, completed his general surgery residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center and his fellowship in surgical oncology at the University of Pittsburgh/UPMC.
