Dr. Michael A. Palese is the Chairman of Urology at Mount Sinai Beth Israel and the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery for the Mount Sinai Health System. He specializes in robotic, laparoscopic, and endoscopic surgery. Dr. Palese earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He completed his residency in urology at the University of Maryland and a fellowship in robotic and laparoscopic surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. As a board-certified urologist and fellowship-trained surgeon, he is an expert in diagnosing and treating kidney, ureter, adrenal, bladder, and prostate diseases, with a special emphasis on minimally invasive surgery. He is a leading authority in the research and treatment of kidney disease, particularly kidney cancer and kidney stones. Among a select group of surgeons in the United States trained in open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery, he has performed over 3,000 kidney procedures using these techniques. Dr. Palese is a world-recognized surgeon and scholar, as well as a pioneer in developing new treatments and technologies.
