As a family medicine doctor, I enjoy seeing patient of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. My particular interests within the field include sports medicine, pediatrics, preventive medicine and procedures. I practice evidence-based medicine.

I enjoy working in the health care industry, and I realized early in life that this is one of my passions. What I didn't realize is that one of my favorite aspects of my job would be getting to know people from all walks of life that I might not normally meet. I'm continually amazed by the interesting, non-medical things I learn about people's lives. Therefore, I strive to learn at least one thing about my patients that isn't medically related. This helps to give me a better understanding of the whole person rather than just a medical diagnosis.

I enjoy working in the infectious disease specialty because it is a challenging field that is constantly changing. I have to be informed about infections happening close to home and around the world. I enjoy getting to know my patients, and I especially enjoy seeing them get back to the things they love to do after successful treatment. \n\nI have spent time working in Africa and South America, learning from the people there and studying infections from those areas. I hope to be able to continue to help those who are underserved medically.\n\nWhen I am not at work, I can be found coaching sports for my children or helping out at our church. \n\nI am a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA), and like the other physicians in our infectious disease group, I follow the IDSA guidelines in the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease. I also provide culturally-sensitive care to diverse communities, including GLBT individuals, refugees and immigrants.
