Rafael Velasquez, MD, attended residency in family medicine at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama, and also completed a residency at Kansas University School of Medicine where he served as Chief Resident in Family Medicine. Dr. Velasquez was born in Lima, Peru, and graduated from Federico Villarreal School of Medicine in 1993. He worked with multiple volunteer programs in his native Peru, including the early detection of cervical/breast cancer, cholera prevention, and the Peruvian Red Cross. Dr. Valasquez is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and the American Medical Association. He enjoys karate, soccer, music, reading and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Chowdhury grew up in the Midwest and completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship at United Health Services (UHS), an affiliate program of SUNY Upstate Medical University in NY. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and specializes in GI & bowel disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, GERD, colon cancer screenings, and liver & pancreas disorders. Dr. Chowdhury served as Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, chairing many educational and quality improvement committees. He also served as Site Director of the Hospitalist Program at UHS-Wilson Memorial Hospital and sat on the Board of Directors of the UHS Medical Group. In his spare time Dr. Chowdhury loves to travel, spend time with his family and is an avid gardener. His first job a teenager was to wash dishes at a local restaurant. At home, Dr. Chowdhury still enjoys doing the dishes and has mastered the art of dishwasher loading.Dr. Chowdhury is currently welcoming new patients and has privileges at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital, HCA Florida South Shore Hospital, and TGH Brandon Healthplex.
