Biography: <p>Anthony Rizzo, MD, is a Staff Surgeon in the Department of Vascular Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic's Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Prior to his Clinic appointment in 2002, he was a private-practice vascular surgeon at Christus Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, La., and a general surgeon with Surgical Associates of Eastern Shore in Fairhope, Ala. His specialties include carotid-artery surgery and thoracic aortic aneurysm repair and reconstruction.</p> <p>Dr. Rizzo received his medical degree from Temple University Medical School, Philadelphia, after earning a bachelor of science degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. He completed his surgical internship at the university of Pennsylvania Graduate Hospital and was a surgical resident at Temple University Hospital and the University of South Alabama, Mobile, Ala. He also completed a research fellowship at the University of South Alabama and a vascular-surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He is board-certified in general and vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery.</p> <p>He has served as a lecturer and presenter at medical conferences nationwide. He has authored chapters for two books--<em>Reperfusion Injuries and Clinical Capillary Leak Syndrome</em>, published in 1994, and <em>Interstitium, Connective tissue and Lymphatics </em>(1995) – and has co-authored numerous articles that have been published in leading medical journals such as the <em>American Journal of Physiology</em>, <em>American Surgeon</em>, <em>Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine</em> and the <em>Journal of Vascular Surgery</em>.</p>

Dr. Anton completed his postdoctoral education, including an internship and residency in surgery, followed by a fellowship in vascular surgery, all at Cleveland Clinic. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in surgery and the subspecialty of general vascular surgery.</p> <p>Dr. Anton has written articles for scientific journals and spoken at medical conferences.
