Lexapro (escitalopram) is an antidepressant. It’s a member of the SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) class. SSRIs boost levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter in the brain. Lexapro uses include treating anxiety disorder, depression, eating disorders, panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
