Treatment depends upon the cause of the dementia. For reversible causes, approaches such as changing medications, correcting chemical imbalances or deficiencies, or treating medical conditions may be helpful. Medications are available to help slow the degenerative changes and to help control some of the behavioral changes of dementia.
