biography: Raised in Los Angeles, CA, Dr. Ursani attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and received a Bachelors of Science degree in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology. His interest in molecular biology and genetics prompted him to participate in research and gain exposure to immunology and gene expression. Dr. Ursani obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Ross University. He then completed his Internal Medicine residency training at the Seton Hall University School of Health Sciences program in New Jersey and served as Chief Resident during his final year. Due to his keen interest in autoimmunity, and immune system dysregulation throughout his undergraduate and graduate training, Dr. Ursani pursued his fellowship training in Rheumatology via the Baylor College of Medicine. Due to his interest in bone health, he focused his research during fellowship on osteoporosis in patients with a history of breast cancer at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Ursani is triple board-certified in rheumatology, musculoskeletal ultrasound in rheumatology, and internal medicine. He also received a certification in clinical densitometry from the International Society of Clinical Densitometry. He is also a published author in medical journals. biography: <p>Since graduating from Klein High School and the University of St Thomas (UST) in Houston, Dr. Peer completed both medical school and his residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston.&nbsp; He then received his fellowship training in rheumatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) in Dallas.</p> <p>He is certified in both rheumatology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).</p> <p>Dr. Peer enjoys treating patients with all forms of arthritis and connective tissue disorders.&nbsp; He has a special interest in performing musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided injections to relieve pain and discomfort.</p> <p>He also teaches rheumatology to medical students as a volunteer preceptor and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at his alma mater, the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB).</p> <p>Dr. Peer is a fellow of the American of College of Rheumatology (ACR) and the American College of Physicians (ACP), along with being a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), Texas Medical Association (TMA) and Harris County Medical Society (HCMS).</p> <p>When not caring for patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife and young son, reading, watching movies and playing tennis.</p>
