Dr. Yanchun Xu had 8 years of full-time education of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China, and more than 10 years of clinical practice in Oriental Medicine in both China and U.S. As a native of mainland China, Dr. Yanchun Xu graduated from Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China, studying Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (a 5-year program). She received her Master of Medicine degree from Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, followed by working as an Assistant Professor at the university for three years. Dr. Xu was mentored by a couple of most prestigious practitioners and practiced Traditional Chinese Medicine in China for many years. During last seven years at South Dakota, she has also helped many community clients with Oriental Medicine therapy. In the meantime, Dr. Xu has conducted multiple clinical investigations, published twelve peer-reviewed articles, and edited/co-edited six books in the scope of Chinese Medicine. Dr. Xu is a Diplomate of Acupuncture (Dipl. Ac.) certified by National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). The approval of candidacy and the pass of board exams provided by NCCAOM are the requirements of practicing or licensing in 46 states in US. Dr. Xu is also a member of American Association of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (AAAOM).There is no licensing regulation in South Dakota. Dr. Xu is a current Licensed Acupuncturist at the state of Montana. Dr. Xu also received her M.S. degree of counseling from South Dakota State University, and currently hold her credential of National Certified Counselor (NCC) issued by National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Although psychological counseling is not the focus presently, Dr. Xu did find the additive and synergistic effectiveness of Oriental Medicine on many mental disorders, including depression and stress.
