Dr. Neway III's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Neway III "Dr. Neway is a board-eligible, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of complex spine problems and the latest minimally-invasive procedures. Dr. Neway attended the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where he received the Joanne Pieringer, PhD, Memorial Scholarship and graduated with honors. He then completed a rotating surgery internship and trained in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. As a resident, Dr. Neway developed an interest in minimally invasive spinal techniques and assisted in the first surgeries of this type performed at the university. After finishing his residency, he went on to complete a combined orthopaedic and neurosurgery spine fellowship at Yale University. Before coming to the Hughston Clinic, Dr. Neway joined the faculty of the University of Alabama-Birmingham, a level 1 trauma facility, as assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Neway is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics, and American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has written several book chapters and published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Neway continues to teach courses in minimally invasive techniques and stays involved in new product development and clinical trial research. His main area of interest is in applying minimally invasive techniques, including endoscopic surgery, to complex spinal problems that have traditionally been treatable only with open spinal surgery. Dr. Neway's other areas of interest include degenerative spine disease, spinal tumors, deformity correction, and discogenic pain. Dr. Neway welcomes the opportunity to work closely with patients and referring physicians alike and is readily available for consultations regarding any type of spinal concerns."
