This content was provided by Dr. Christensen "Dr. Vern M. Christensen was born in Southern California and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He furthered his education by receiving a Masters of Public Administration degree with an emphasis in Business Government Relations in Healthcare from the Marriott School of Management at BYU. Dr. Christensen then obtained his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine degree from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami, Florida. As a medical student, he was elected President of the Florida Podiatric Medical Student Association and received numerous leadership awards for his service. Dr. Christensen graduated with honors and completed his podiatric surgical residency with Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Board Certified in both Podiatric Surgery and Wound Care, Dr. Christensen specializes in all aspects of medical and surgical treatment of the foot. His areas of interest are sports medicine, limb preservation, reconstructive surgery and the diabetic foot. Dr. Christensen is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, American Society of Podiatric Surgeons, American Professional Wound Care Association and American Academy of Wound Management. He is also a member of and involved with the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Mississippi Podiatric Medical Association. In 2014, Dr. Christensen was elected President of the Mississippi Podiatric Medical Association and met with Governor Phil Bryant to discuss diabetes in Mississippi and the role podiatrists have in treating diabetic patients. Dr. Christensen has practiced in the Amory area since 1998, and he enjoys volunteering and contributing to the local community. Married with three children, Dr. Christensen's personal life is filled with family, church and sporting activities."
