Dr. Whitney's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Whitney "Travis Whitney, NMD, MSc is a board certified Naturopathic Medical Doctor, Chinese Medicine practitioner, and U.S. Army Veteran practicing in the Phoenix/Paradise Valley/Scottsdale area. Dr. Whitney graduated from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, OR with a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Masters of Science in Integrative Medicine Research. He currently divides his time between his clinic, Innate Healthcare, and practicing regenerative medicine utilizing stem cell therapy at Stem Cell Centers in North Phoenix. At NUNM Dr. Whitney was trained as a primary care physician and medical researcher, learning several modalities, such as clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, minor surgery, and pharmaceuticals, for multiple conditions. Dr. Whitney was trained in prolotherapy through the American Osteopathic Association Prolotherapy and Regenerative Medicine, and his Chinese medicine training at the Phoenix Institute for Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture (PIHMA). Dr. Whitney's practice focuses on stem cell therapy, primary care, pain, bio-identical hormone replacement, pain management, stress/anxiety/depression, acute and chronic disease, SIBO, diabetes, weight management, heart disease, and physical/sports medicine. Dr. Whitney's clinical research thesis was done on the effects of meditation on neuroplasticity, a clinical trial on the effects meditation has on neuroplasticity, the brains ability to 're-wire' itself and grow new brain cell connections. He's also written on topics such as obesity and insulin resistance in third-world countries, the effects of cortisol on brain function, as well as other health related topics. Dr. Whitney is a firm believer that our spiritual energy plays a vital role in our health. In his early twenties, he found Qi Gong meditation through his martial arts practice. He discovered its benefits on anxiety, stress reduction, physical pain, focus, learning, and well-being in general. While earning his Bachelor's degrees in Psychology, he gave presentations in Neurotheology, discussing the brains relationship with spirituality. Dr. Whitney was born and raised in Fort Walton Beach, FL and when not practicing he enjoys exercise, meditation, cooking, hiking, traveling, reading, playing guitar, and studying all things for health and healing. Loving activity and nature, Dr. Whitney has spent years in a variety of sports and fitness programs. These include bodybuilding, powerlifting, tai chi, boxing, MMA, volleyball, yoga and many more. "
