This content was provided by Dr. Geersen "I was fortunate to grow up in the Missouri River Valley town of Yankton, SD. My love of the quiet, open prairie and the beautiful river brings me back to visit often. During my childhood, I was very active and played on three state basketball championship teams. When I was twelve, I sustained a severe spinal injury that almost led me to a spinal fusion and a body cast for six months. A chiropractic adjustment saved me from that surgical procedure. It left a big imprint on me. My love of science led me to attend SD School of Mines and Technology where I studied chemistry and geology for four years. Medical school was next on the agenda. I scrapped that idea and decided to use my love of movement, science, and people to become a doctor of chiropractic. I graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN in 1989. After moving to Denver in 1990, I set up my practice and have been fortunate enough to be able to assist many people with a variety of health issues. My passions are anything to do with nature (especially rocks and birds), music, my dogs, my family and friends. "
This content was provided by Dr. Geersen "Since 1989, my focus as a chiropractor has been to help patients alleviate health issues by finding the cause of the problem, providing the best treatment, and teaching prevention.
Many times the traditional medical approach to pain is to mask symptoms with medication. My work involves looking at the whole person to examine the interplay between the structural, chemical, and emotional levels of the body to diagnose and treat complex issues.
I use Applied Kinesiology and orthopedic and neurological evaluations to create a diagnosis. My chiropractic adjustments are all done by soft tissue manipulation, neuromuscular re-education, craniosacral therapy, and lymphatic massage.
The most important facet of healing is to prevent the problem from reoccurring. My job is teach you how to strengthen, stretch, and alter your lifestyle to help maintain alignment."
