Retired Master Sergeant, US Army, with twenty-four years combined experience in providing leadership, training, and expertise in physical security, counterespionage and counter-terrorism operations, physical surveillance techniques, and workshops on Subversion and Espionage Awareness. Forty years' experience as an Equal Opportunity Advisor in designing and facilitating training exercises in conflict management, cross cultural and multi-cultural communication, cultural diversity, sexual harassment, team building, and in implementing policies and procedures. Five years experience as a Juvenile Correctional Officer in applying training and recreational activities in counseling techniques, abnormal psychology, adolescent psychology, behavior modification, security, first aid, and personal social adjustment for juveniles in a variety of incarceration environments. Thirty years' experience in community and parent education and training to reduce oppositional and violent behavior in adolescents and children. Provides motivational speeches to young people, volunteers at local schools, churches, and libraries as a professional storyteller, and created an original story based learning format for multiple intelligence information to include in student portfolios. Community volunteering support has included participation in drug and alcohol education, family violence intervention, violence prediction and de-escalation, and suicide prevention. Dr. Caw has provided therapy in several treatment settings. They included counseling college students on their campus, teenage females and males in residential treatment facilities, and pro bono work in schools. In support of mental health advocacy for the community, Dr. Caw, a public speaker and professional storyteller in the South Carolina Arts Commission, has made informative presentations to professional and public organizations including Baptist Memorial Behavioral Health; South Carolina Afterschool Alliance; Camille G. Graham Correctional Institution; Healthy Children, Healthy Lifestyles Health Fairs; elementary, middle, and high schools; and other organizations. He has been a Consultant, U. S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC), and a member of the American Counseling Association, American Mental Health Counselors Association, Association for Adult Development and Aging, Association for Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Issues in Counseling, Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP), National Alliance on Mental Illness, and the South Carolina Mental Health Counselors Association."
