Dr. Tu's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Tu "Hi my name is Dr. Richard Tu. I was born and raised in San Diego. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your healthcare needs. I perform surgical procedures with affiliations at Sharp Coronado Hospital, Paradise Valley Hospital, and local Surgery Centers. I am proud to be on staff these hospitals because they demonstrate high quality of care delivered by doctors who make decisions based on the best interests of their patients. I received my undergraduate degree from UC San Diego in Biochemistry and my Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at CSPM in San Francisco in 2004. I did a fellowship as as a guest at UTHSC San Antonio, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Harvard), Cambridge Hospital (Harvard), and at Yale-New Haven Hospital (Yale). Overall, I have 7 years of specialized education and training about the foot and ankle, and no I am not attracted to people's feet. =) My learning and excellence does not end because I am certified with the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, American College of Foot & Ankle Pediatrics, the California Podiatric Medical Association, and the San Diego Podiatric Medical Association. I have yet to be bored of treating the foot and ankle because of my desire to solve problems. I have specialized interests in corrective bunion surgery (trained my the author), pediatric and adult flatfoot repair (trained by the author), laser toenail treatment (since 2007), failed foot and ankle surgery (trained by the authors), restoration, nerve surgery (trained by UCSF), and preventive medicine (trained by UCSF), Diabetic limb preservation and wound care (UTHSC - San Antonio), and Plastic surgery (trained by UCSF). I speak both Vietnamese and conversational Spanish. I keep up with current medical procedures and the standard of care. I treat patients no less than my own family members. In my leisure time I enjoy telling my staff silly jokes, maintaining our office saltwater fish tanks, going to the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, and Legoland with my family. Also enjoy posting to our Facebook page."
