This content was provided by Dr. Cousins "My philosophy is to treat the individual not just the problem. I am more solution centered than problem centered. I have a dry sense of humor, and use cognitive/behavioral methods and emotional focused therapy, although each person needs something different. I believe in sharing with the client(s) ideas I have as we go along, rather than timing interventions. I am compassionate, caring and believe that my job is to show a client different options. I believe that long-lasting change can occur within six months to a year for most people, although many people get what they need in less time, I aim to help people have healthy reactions, thoughts and feelings just as automatically as troublesome thoughts, behaviors and feelings used to be. I believe that if couples worked on marriages as long as they do divorce recovery more marriages would stay together. Humans are emotional beings and that to change feelings you often have to feel them first or again. I love my work."
