Dr. Emick is the kind of therapist who makes you feel right at home – her office is clean but cozy, with a beautiful aquarium in the waiting room and two sweet therapy dogs to cuddle. When I first sought her therapy services after my mom died in 2019, I was a broken, empty shell of a person. With Dr. Emick’s guidance, I’m slowly healing from the loss and growing into the well-adjusted adult I hoped I could be. Dr. Emick is a calm, down-to-earth, and incredibly intelligent person who radiates wisdom, but is still just as human as any of us. I have never felt judged or belittled by her; in fact, on more than one occasion, she’s actually called me out of my crap! Also, during times when I disagreed with something she said about me, I was still able to talk it through with her without fear of being dismissed. Dr. Emick cares about what her patients have to say and is a professional through and through. No matter her approach, Dr. Emick will expertly walk you through the mess that is mental

Dr. Emick is always so kind and patient with my elderly mother, who has dementia. She talks to her not over her and always listens to her full response before speaking. She never rushes her or gets impatient. What a jewel! Denton is lucky to have such a good specialist.

First things first. I sought treatment here because I'm a mental mess. I came here for my appointment yesterday which had been one of the worst days of my life. Dr. Emick refused to see me because I didn't have the paperwork ready prior to the appointment. My printer isn't working so I figured I would fill it out when I got there. I mean, that's what I've done at every other place in that situation. Despite me being in tears and on the verge of suicide Dr. Emick would not see me because the paper work would've made me 15 minutes late for my appointment. I'm at my rock bottom emotionally right now and really wasn't expecting to be treated so coldly by someone in this field. People reading this review, ask yourself, "Do I want a person who treats people like this helping me with my personal issues?" Also, I'm pretty sure people of her profession are required to call emergency services when suicidal tendencies are displayed, which she didn't do.

I have an unusual chronic medical condition that affects all aspects of my life. Dr. Emick is one of the few doctors in the area that has knowledge of my disorder. She and her staff always treat me kindly and respectfully, which is rare for a specialist in my experience.
