This content was provided by Dr. Rubino III "I am a third generation Italian-American. I was born and raised in the Bay Area. I was also educated in the Bay Area. I attended UC Berkeley, St Mary's College for my Masters and CSPP - Alameda for my doctorate degree. All my degrees are in Clinical psychology. A majority of my internships were with Childrens Mental Health of Contra Costa County. In 1997 I was licensed as a marriage and family therapist. I also have had the opportunity to serve on the Ethics Committee for Children's Hispital Oakland and as a Neuropschological research assistant and intern and John Muir Medical Center. Additionally I served on the Students Attendance Review Board for the Pittsburgh Unified School District and on the Domestic Violence Advisory Board and Child Abduction Response Board for the Concord Police Department. Since my family immigrated to the United States, we have all been educated by the Christian Brothers. I have adopted their views, "enter to learn, learn to serve" and "the more you know the more you owe." I am always looking for ways that I can and my practice can give back to the community. I served on the De La Salle Alumni Board for 12 years and I am a founding member of the National Alive & Free Board which works with high risk teenagers. I also started the Lucas Michael Rubino Family and Child Counseling Center in 2003. This Center was started in honor of my nephew who passed away at 18 months from a rare heart disorder. He had a love for life and always a smile for everyone no matter how sick he was feeling. We wanted to ensure that his love for life and people was carried on. Therefore, the Lucas Center serves as an advocate for children's rights, as a place where people can receive therapy at a price they can afford and not feel embarrassed if they can only pay $10. Furthermore, the Center serves as an adovcate against the hate and numerous massive shooting we have been experiencing in society. We encourage everyone working together not saying or doing things that will encourage you to look down on someone. I am often asked how can I listen to people complain day after day. I don't know. It was a gift I was born with as a child. I enjoy listening to someone and being able to help them. It makes me feel good. I also am very honored by my career and take it very seriously. I have people trusting ne with their lives and their children's lives. This is a huge honor and responsibility. I can do my job every day because I view it as a priveldge and honor to be able to do it. Also people have helped me through my life and this is away to give back. All of us need help at different times in our lives. If I can help someone in therapy without them being embarrassed or ashamed about needing therapy then I have fulfilled my promise to all those people in my life who helped me. i look forward to having the opportunity of working with you in therapy."

We have designed our office to provide a safe, friendly atmosphere so you can come in without being embarrassed. We also believe in a team approach so you are part of the team. We encourage your questions and suggestions about your therapy. We understand most people are coming in for psychotherapy during a very difficult time. We are here to do whatever we can to help make the difficult time easier for you and so you feel you have people in your life who are supporting you and you do not have to worry about our opinions.
