In 2008, he began practicing as a Physical therapist at an outpatient orthopedic clinic with The Jackson Clinics in northern Virginia. A few years later Matthew graduated from the orthopedic physical therapy residency program at the Jackson Clinics in 2011. During that year he traveled to Ethiopia to teach the therapists at the Black Lion Hospital about the evaluation and treatment of patients with cervical spine pain. Since then, Matthew has served as a clinic director, mentored orthopedic residents and new graduates, and taught numerous courses around the country about the most recent advances in orthopedic physical therapy. He has also conducted research to assess relationships between core musculature endurance and the level of overall function in patients with low back pain. Matthew currently practices at Fast Track Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine, located in Midvale, UT. Matthew is interested in the rehabilitation of orthopedic conditions of all kinds, particularly the treatment of spinal dysfunctions (cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacro-iliac) as well as of the foot and ankle complex. His passion is helping patients through the recovery process from injuries related to the spine, especially the lower back. Additionally, he has extensive experience helping patients overcome athletic injuries from skiing to crossfit. He also makes custom orthotics for the foot as well as enjoys utilizing movement analysis software for gait/running evaluations. When not in the clinic, Matthew can be found outside hiking, snowboarding, or playing ultimate frisbee. He loves smoothies and watching BYU football."
