Dr. Landstrom earned his Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology where he decided to "double major" in Neuropsychology and Health Psychology. He also serves as the Clinical Director for an adolescent and young adult mental health and substance abuse treatment facility. There, his unique expertise is applied to treatment planning and supervision of clinical staff as they provide individual, family and group therapy using multiple modalities for the Intensive Outpatient and Aftercare programs. He consults for a major Chicagoland hospital group's adult addiction treatment center to aid in making return to work and hospital discharge safety decisions for patients that have experienced the severe neurological effects of chronic alcohol and substance abuse. In addition to the BrainPaint neurofeedback program, he also provides the neurointervention Cogmed to patients with an acquired brain injury, ADHD, and/or learning disabilities, as well as concussion baseline testing (ImPact) to aid in making return to play decisions. He is constantly monitoring the evidence-based literature for additional neurointerventions to add to his practice, but only after his rigorous standards of efficacy are met.
This content was provided by Dr. Landstrom "Dr. Landstrom's philosophy to treatment is to first identify all the major factors contributing to the presenting problem, as well as to pinpoint any secondary sources of dysfunction that could be having an impact. Often, what seems to be one problem is really something else entirely! This diagnostic clarity is accomplished by administering a battery of tests personalized to the unique presentation of a client. By identifying specific areas in need of intervention that may otherwise not have been considered, the rate of recovery increases and the treatment team can implement much more targeted interventions.
When appropriate, Dr. Landstrom prefers to take his role as a neuropsychologist a step further by providing treatment through the use of neurointerventions. Specifically, Dr. Landstrom uses BrainPaint neurofeedback."
