This content was provided by Mary Beth Luttrell "I believe nursing is the art and science of therapeutic human-centered care, where care is the essence of the patient/NP relationship. The FNP should expresses human-centered care in an authentic, therapeutic relationship that is responsive to the emotional, spiritual, and physical needs of each unique patient. FNP must provide care that address the whole patient. The commitment of the FNP is to the patient, upholding individual dignity and human rights. FNP's must attend to the patient's preferences, and cultural values, beliefs, and practices in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics. Important in the patient/practitioner relationship is a collaborative team effort, starting with the patient. Collaboration with the patient at the helm, and the entire health care team, helps Nurse Practitioners deliver care tailored to the uniqueness of each patient and situation. "
