I believe that a thorough eye exam cannot be performed in 6 minutes. I like to schedule 30 minutes for an examination so I get a chance to understand how my patients live their life. What activities are important to them and how they use their eyes. Many patients are unaware that some of their activities can be very risky to their eyes. I also like to get to know patients as friends. I believe that having that type of relationship it is easier to recommend treatments or life style changes like stop smoking or improve diet and exercise works better if it comes from a friend who cares, rather than just a brochure. I believe it is important to treat all patients with dignity, compassion and respect
