What People Say About Dr. Lawrence Beer, ED.D
Reply
He talks more about himself than the client. He is not open to other modalities. He sticks to CBT which is great but not always the best way to treat a client. His ego is huge and he lets you know so. He directs the session vs the client doing so. His solutions are always the same and he likes to give ultimatums which should never be a part of therapy. So you want me to do this in order for you to continue to see me? How is that effective and isn’t it the exact opposite of what therapy is supposed to be. You must follow his guidance 100% or he doesn’t want to work with you. He has an unrealistic view of what therapy should be and how to treat a client. He reminded me that him knowing a close friend of mine shouldn’t be of concern because he didn’t say anything about what he was treating me for or anything else that was said in session. Why he reminded me of this I don’t know but why would he when that is the rule. Makes me wonder if he did talk about me.
