This content was provided by Dr. Payne "Some reasons to consider psychotherapy include: sudden changes in behavior, increased moodiness, an increase in temper tantrums, difficulty getting along with friends, physical or sexual abuse, loss of a loved one, divorce, excessive crying or sadness, increased worrying, aggression, questions about sexuality, self-injurious behavior or thoughts of suicide, trauma, illness, and anger. Parents and caregivers know their child best. If you think something is off, then seek a consultation. I will listen intently and conduct a detailed interview to determine if services are appropriate. If they are, then together we will set goals and develop a treatment plan. Often, individuals struggle with emotional, learning, and/or behavioral issues. A battery of measures is used. An integrated report includes recommendations. The goal is to develop a deeper understanding of the issues and give a sense of hope coupled with sound advice. Assessment for ADHD, anxiety, depression, and giftedness."
