You may be in pain, wondering why your relationships aren't more successful, or why you are stuck in unhealthy patterns of people-pleasing, perfectionism, or self-neglect. Most who reach out are yearning for effective, efficient help, delivered with deep compassion and absence of judgment. For 20 years, I have been providing psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, families, and groups. While I use of variety of techniques tailored to the patient's needs, I focus on using Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) as my primary approach to psychotherapy. ISTDP provides relief quickly -- by way of an organic and unmedicated route -- and long lasting results. I have long sought a therapeutic approach that would help free patients from their emotional burdens, where even after a few sessions they're aware of a difference down to their emotional and physical core. I happily see this approach bring my patients enduring relief from symptoms and long-term fulfillment. I am currently a faculty member of the ISTDP program at the Washington School of Psychiatry, in Washington DC."
This content was provided by Kara Veigas "ISTDP is an approach to therapy born out of attachment theory, and one that demands full and active collaboration between the patient and therapist. The patient is expected to bring the desire to live as fulfilled and happy a life as possible. In using ISTDP I approach the patient's time as invaluable, and believe the wisest approach is to be up front with the patient immediately and continuously, to bring relief from suffering in the fastest and safest way possible. Therapy is typically conducted on a weekly basis following the initial evaluation until goals are achieved.
Deep and lasting change is possible in a reasonable, cost-effective time frame. Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISDTP), originally developed by Habib Davanloo, M.D., is a scientifically validated method of psychotherapy which dramatically accelerates the therapy, so that patients see measurable results immediately."
