I emailed Dr. Whelan through Psychology Today, then, after not hearing from her for a week, I called and left a detailed message. STILL never heard from her. Not returning client calls violates the American Psychological Association's Ethics Code.

Dr. Whelan takes the time to listen to her patients where most doctors and providers rush you out of the office or will only listen to one condition let alone if they even remember who you are for your visit. She is willing to order tests and do diagnostics and take into account my own thoughts. She teaches me about what is going on if I ask questions. I haven't found anyone who will do this in practice or take that time. I know that when I wait its because she is taking time and she is going to spend that time with me if I need it or want it.

She is the best. She actually cares about you and runs tests so she doesn't over medicate and she does not judge. She is the best psychiatrist I have ever seen.

I'm grateful to Dr. Whelan for how she's helped me, but I had a miserable time as her patient. She was hours late to our first appt and over an hour late to our second. When she finally arrived she misgendered and deadnamed me - I'm trans, this is in my notes - and right away asked if this would be a short or long session. She said we could either reschedule or do a televisit as she had to drive somewhere, and she left. The video call was choppy and she had to split her attention between me and the road. I didn't cover most of what I wanted and she left without saying goodbye to me. I sobbed the entire drive home. I also had multiple issues getting my medications filled that had me going through withdrawal several times. She frequently switches practices and only sometimes lets her patients know, and I've gotten texts/e-mails from her signing me up for her last practice's websites despite me telling her two months ago I'm no longer her patient. I can't in good conscience recommend her.

Best Nurse Practitioner in the St. Louis region area. I was a previous patient of hers. My situation was and still is a rather sophisticated one. But that never stopped her from trying everything possible that she could to help me. The only reason I had to discontinue seeing her was due to moving away from the area briefly to California for college. When I returned I was unable to find out if she still was practicing, due to the constant movement of offices, but being a patient of hers for quite a lengthy time, I knew why the movement of locations were, and all were legitimate reasons. She takes the time and listens to you, she won't force any medication on you like most doctors will. She's very knowledgeable and most of all she cares about Veterans, as well as have experience with all types of conditions.

Im really bummed with how things went with Jessica. I was a patient for about 2 years. I was in the worst state of my life, on my way to an appointment when the practice called to cancel (15 minutes before) because she was 'out sick'. I didn't really have any options and went off my meds while my father was dying because the practice never communicated to me that she left. After I was finally able to schedule, mid October, she is booked thru January. I feel really let down by the situation.

My son has been seeing Jessica for two years. We struggled for years to find a practitioner who would actually listen and also explain things to us. I am so glad that we have found someone that really does care about her patients and doesn’t just write prescriptions without listening!

I left my last review for Jessica in Dec 2017. She is by far the best my daughter has seen. I recommend her to everyone. It's unfortunate her last office didn't tell her current patients where she moved to when they called. We couldn't be happier with the time and care she receives.

Her appointments sometimes can be long with wait times to see her being a hour to an hour and half but she delivers great care, with emergency appointments. I've been a patient for 6 months with multiple med changes and she uses newer medications

She just switched offices & I love the new one so much more! Her old one lied about not knowing where she was. I guess there is some nasty legal issues going on & she couldn't contact her patients. Was easy enough to find her with Google. Anyway, as always, she is amazing, spends real time with me. Super smart & has helped me so much since I started seeing her. Can't say enough good things about her.

I have followed Jessica for years. She is one of the best practitioners I have found! She really listens to all of your needs and cares about her patients. The staff at Gateway Psychiatric Group has been great and seem to really help Jessica's compared to previous offices. She is one of the few practitioners that considers mental and physical health in addition to taking the time you need. Any time I have had to wait, I know she is helping someone!

Witnessed a waiting room of abandoned patients at Compassionate Health Care today. It is where she practiced but then without notice left. No letters sent to anyone. To be honest she had lost son's confidence anyways. So c'est la vie. He met the doctor filling in and actually likes him better. Had been shopping for new doctor anyways. I found it odd that weeks before bailing she posted sign for$25 charge in advance if you needed to speak with her on phone. Some things happen for the best.

I was a patient of Jessica’s and really liked her. Then I went in for an appointment only to find that she had left her practice. I was never told that she moved and don’t know where she is now. I suppose I will have to find someone else. :(

I am seeking a professional counselor and Ms. Whelan is on the referral sheet I was given. I emailed her, per the site, and received no correspondence (been 2 weeks). I called on Friday and left a message for someone to call me today to see if I could get an appointment. Not only did I have to call again (no one called me back); I was told she was scheduling out for November. The receptionist was rude and like "tough." So, I am moving on to find someone else. Very dissappointed.

Absolutely! This was my first visit with Jessica Whelan, I was beyond impressed with her bedside manner. She was incredibly knowledgeable, I immediately felt connected and that I had finally met someone who could really help me. Initial intake was with a nurse practitioner who made me feel at ease as well. She prompted me to share so much of my past and present that I knew this was the place for me. I am excited about my future finally and looking forward to feeling great about my life.
