I participated in an extended apprenticeship with a New Mexico licensed D.O.M. (Doctor of Oriental Medicine), after that I took a 22 month distance learning course in Chinese medicine administered by the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences based in Beijing, China and followed this course work up with a 3 week clinical rotation in WangJing hospital in Beijing, China. Finally, I completed a masters' degree in Acupuncture at the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Denver, CO. In all I have almost 10,000 hours of training in acupuncture and Chinese medicine with more than 1,000 clinical hours. I am board certified with a Dipl AC through the NCCAOM and hold an active Colorado practice license. Prior to transitioning to Chinese medicine, I spent nearly 26 years in western medicine. I was a pharmacy technician for 10 years, worked 8 years at Cerner Corp in Kansas City, MO testing and developing software to automate hospital processes and worked 8 years for OptumInsight a wholly owned subsidiary of United Health Group. I've been in hospitals on 4 continents observing workflow and processes to gain a better understanding for how to implement software to support those workflows and processes."
This content was provided by Jeffrey Rippey "Chinese medicine, in general, promotes a very individualized approach. This necessitates listening carefully as the patient describes their health concern. No two people are exactly the same and it's important to be able to distinguish details about each situation in order to arrive at a correct Chinese diagnosis and treatment.
When it comes to acupuncture itself, I believe less is more. I choose acupuncture points carefully, and I do this to minimize the number of needles inserted. A typical treatment from me is usually around 10 needles, often fewer."
