Janell McIntyre's bio

This content was provided by Janell McIntyre "Janell Kristin McIntyre ("Kristin") completed her B.A. at Webster University in St. Louis, MO (1994) and her Master of Science degree (M.S.) in clinical psychology at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri in 2002. She also earned Evangel's Outstanding Graduate Student award and the Ozarks Area Psychological Association Outstanding Graduate Student award for the year 2002. Kristin has been fully licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri since 2003, and she is also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) since 2004, which means she voluntarily meets and maintains national board certification standards set by the counseling profession represented by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Kristin is also a certified PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator since 2008. PREPARE/ENRICH is the leading relationship inventory and skill-building program used nationally and internationally, scientifically proven to improve couple relationships. Kristin is trained in both the premarital (PREPARE) and marital (ENRICH) programs. In 1998, Kristin began her clinical training in Marriage and Family Therapy and school guidance counseling in Oregon, and simultaneously began working with severely emotionally disturbed children in educational settings. In 2000, Kristin transferred to Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri to complete her Master of Science degree in clinical psychology and prepare for licensure in the state of Missouri as an LPC. She also gained employment with Alternative Opportunities dba Gateway Youth and Family Services in December 2000, and began working as a foster parent trainer under an agency contract with the state of Missouri Children's Division simultaneously completing home studies recommending potential foster families for foster licensure. She also supervised teams of community support workers in home and community based wrap-around treatment services, and provided individual and family therapy to children in the state foster and adoption systems. In 2003, Kristin began working in private practice in outpatient community mental health clinics providing individual, marital, and family counseling. In 2006 she established a solo practice, and in addition to offering office-based services, she provided a variety of counseling services to teenagers and adolescents in group- home and in-home settings primarily through referrals from Children's Division."

Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Janell McIntyre "Kristin has a passion to serve her community and to see lives, marriages, families, and relationships restored. She offers a personal touch quite different from the traditional "doctor/sick patient" approach, which she believes disempowers people. Instead, Kristin normalizes the human experience of pain and suffering as something that none of us escapes in this life and offers a trustworthy therapeutic relationship to help you walk out your healing.

Kristin believes in focusing on "what is right with you," instead of putting so much emphasis on "what is wrong with you." When you are aware of your strengths, you are more likely to feel like you can face a difficult situation and make important changes.

Kristin has a holistic view of the person, believing that physical, emotional, and spiritual health are interrelated and that in order to be healthy, issues need to be explored and integrated from all three of these facets."
