Dr. Pound's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Pound "Dr. Pound's primary goal is to provide patients with a broader understanding of health and a more lasting sense of well-being. Instead of traditional clinical psychology, Dr. Pound applies a patient-centered approach that addresses the whole person rather than simply their symptoms. True Nature Healing Center was developed to combine the discipline of modern clinical psychology with the wisdom of ancient healing and take advantage of the knowledge of several disciplines including: Ayurveda Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Mindfulness/CBT, Cogmed, Sandplay Therapy and Energy Therapy. What this means to the patient is that Dr. Pound works with you to develop an integrated diagnostic and therapeutic plan that will best address your mind and body as one. Dr. Pound has been in private practice for over 10 years in the San Diego area, and works primarily with families, individuals, couples, children and adolescents who are dealing with life transitions, emotional trauma, and physical and emotional pain. Dr. Pound's interest in the mind-body-spirit connection developed through a dedication to clinical psychology, yoga and meditation. Through her own inner journey of self healing and working with spiritual teachers such as: monks, mystics, yoga and meditation teachers from both India and the United States, she began to realize that the psychological pursuits alone would not lead to inner peace and happiness. Dr. Pound's mission is to view the body as in integrated whole in all its physical, mental, emotional and spiritual dimensions and to trust the body's inherent wisdom to heal itself."

Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Pound "Dr. Pound has an integrated approach to treating and caring for patients.  She believes that the mind and body have an inherent wisdom to heal itself.  In other words, every illness has an underlying cause, often in aspects of the lifestyle, diet or habits of the individual.  Dr. Pound listens to what the patient is already doing to maintain a healthy lifestyle and just adds to what is already in place.

Dr. Pound considers herself as a teacher who educates her patients in achieving and maintaining optimal health and she helps them to focus on wellness and disease prevention.

Through active listening, compassion and non-jugement Dr. Pound will sit down and speak to you about all aspects of your life that may be influencing your well-being.  Next, she will collaborate and clearly communicate an integrative treatment plan, which will seek to use the most natural methods."

What People Say About Dr. Gretchen Pound, PHD
I was a child trauma patient and for about two and a half years I visited her. About a year and a half in, I found out she'd shared my records with my mother who is also a psychologist. I was 13 and my trust in her had not only been shattered, but I have refused to see another shrink until I turn...Read More
