Her first paid job was in the pathology lab at Desert Samaritan Hospital. She graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor's degree in zoology and later earned a master's degree in education. She taught science and physical education for ten years while raising a family. Happily, she discovered naturopathic medicine during this time, which changed her career path dramatically. Upon graduation from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM), Dr. Livengood was awarded the prestigious STAIR residency, which integrates both conventional and naturopathic medicine into an intensive year of extra training.
