Dr. Hayes' bio

This content was provided by Dr. Hayes "Dr. Donna Hayes DPM grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the daughter of a pediatrician and high school guidance counselor. Her father used to bring her to the hospital to see his patients when she was a child. Donna obtained her undergraduate degree in vocal performance from McNeese State University, then went to Baylor University for graduate school. After securing her Master of Music degree, she sang professionally with the Houston Grand Opera before realizing that she really wanted to practice medicine like her father. She was granted a scholarship to the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, where she graduated with the Edwin J and Helen L Kayk Graduation Award. While still in medical school, Dr. Hayes participated in the coveted core rotation at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Tx where she was trained by some of the country's best diabetic foot specialists. She was thoroughly immersed in at-risk wound care and limb salvage. From there, Dr. Hayes trained at Chestnut Hill Hospital (part of the University of Pennsylvania) and Mercy Suburban Hospital before completing her residency in Scranton, PA. Scranton's Community Medical Center provided Dr. Hayes with a superior knowledge base and skill set that makes her the well-rounded practitioner that she is today. As part of her final year of residency, Donna did a rotation at the Rubin Institute of Advanced Orthopedics and International Center for Limb Lengthening which focused on the correction congenital deformities. Most recently, Dr. Hayes had the honor of working at the esteemed Weil Foot and Ankle Institute in Kenosha and Paddock Lake, Wisconsin where she excelled in the clinical treatment of wounds, heel pain, overall foot pain, and at risk and diabetic foot care, as well as pediatric/ family foot issues, such as warts and sprains and sport-related injuries. Prior to her time at WFAI, Dr. Hayes spent several years treating geriatric, immobilized, and psychiatric patients in home health (both inner city and rural), assisted living, mental health, and nursing home settings. She is a board certified wound care specialist physician with the American Board of Wound Management and is a board-qualified foot surgeon with the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Hayes is a seasoned practitioner with a diverse background and a warm, energetic personality. She enjoys patients of all ages and is ready to help you and your loved ones get back on your feet as soon as possible!"

Dr Hayes helped me with a trauma to my foot. She is incredibly precise, has terrific skill and knowledge. She answered all my questions and even took the time to review the photos of the injury I had been taking with my phone, as it healed. A very patient doctor too! Thank goodness for her.
