This may be a time of familiar or new distress or dissatisfaction in life. Perhaps you (or you and your spouse) are in a position to address and understand these recurring feelings of unhappiness, anxiety, irritability or emptiness. You might be engaging in risky job changes, infidelity or neglecting your health. You may be isolating yourself or feel overwhelmed by your family responsibilities. I am a licensed psychologist and certified psychoanalyst. Psychotherapy and psychoanalysis allow for a deeper look at recurring dysfunctional patterns that hinder relationships, professional success and contentment in life. I work with individuals, couples and families. After working with individuals, couples and families for 25 years, I have found that knowing oneself is much harder to do than people think. Once the self-understanding is gained and feelings flow more comfortably, the natural creativity, happiness and connectedness to others occurs effortlessly.

Dr. Kirschbaum Says:
It's very important to feel like you have found a good fit with your therapist. If the therapist makes you feel uncomfortable for any reason at all, talk about it. If your therapist talks a lot about themselves, takes phone calls during your sessions, forgets sessions, is unethical in billing practices or often picks you up late, perhaps these are not good signs. Trust the fit....
