Deb is amazing! She has been a god send to me. I went to her when I was at a very low point in my life and she has helped me greatly. I would and have recommend her to any one!
Thank you! Blessings and success to you!

I have cross addictions...gambling, alcohol, sex/porn and a boatload of broken relationships. Dr. Gershonok in her casual, joking and nice way taught me to 'Listen &Learn,' & to take it 1 day at a time & what sober hedonism means. I started to have regular contact with my children and vet buddies again. Not distracted and irritable like before sobriety. She says it's Simple Not Easy and so true! I finally go to Anon groups, so my higher power is the group. Also she taught me Wise Mind/DBT skills
Thank you!

My grandchild has developmental delays due to a congenital disease. His mother is not able to be in his life. Dr. G has provided play, art and musical therapy with him for the several years. His impulse control and social skills improved 100%. He doesn't need an IEP, has many friends and does his chores but I mostly need to express gratitude to Dr. G. Love her patience and wisdom in parenting guidance, child advocacy and child development.
Thank you!

I agree with the first review. Ms. Gershanok's style was aggressive and curt and she seemed to want to fit everything into her own framework. She even discussed addiction at length, even though it was never a problem with me. She may have helped others, but that was not my experience.
Change is a process not an event. Psychotherapy is an opportunity to change negative patterns through learning about the mind, experiencing trust and practicing open communication built over time. Give time time. Psychotherapy is sometimes difficult because it brings up distressing sensory reactions to painful past experiences. I teach tools to manage this as it comes. Nothing changes if nothing changes. Curiosity and willingness to learn are necessary attitudes to grow from psychotherapy.

I have found Dr. Gershanok to be an invaluable support in my journey of healing and becoming. She is very easy to schedule appointments with, even on short notice, she is willing to have appointments over the phone, and I have even brought my young daughter to some sessions. I believe that Dr. Gershanok truly cares about my well being and is generally in tune with my current needs and issues. I could not have come as far as I have in my health journey (including losing over 100lbs) without her
Thank you! Blessings and success to you!

My eating disorder 'ED' controls,me when I'm stressed and unaware. Through drawing, guided imagery and music, Deb guides me to self soothe and see other options to manage painful sensations and emotions. We use the Initutive Eating model for learning how to feed myself kindly. Can't say enough complements about Deb's psychotherapy skills. Glad she found space in her busy office to work with me.
Thank you! Blessings and success to you!

My pre-pregnancy anxiety was in check with Dr. Gershanok's support and while pregnant my body and 'fat' issues resurged full blast! Deb is expert in teaching thought stopping, desensitization and reframing triggers. Now post partum even though my hormones are funky and I'm still feeling pretty good, not nursing as I hoped, but off medication. Deb is often available immediately by phone to keep panic from setting in. Can't believe how lucky I am to have found her in Pittsburgh Psychology Today.
Thank you! Blessings and success to you!

Dr. Gershanok's passion for helping elderly people with medical and mental health disorders cope with the larger system is unsurpassed. She addressed details about my parents history and care needs that saved them money and time out of facilities and hospitals. What a livesaver! Even though her solo office is growing, she takes as much time necessary to patiently attend to elder folks anxiety, grief and quality of life concerns. She answers her own phone and gets back right away! Thanks, Dr. G.

I was very disappointed with my 6 visits with Ms Gershanok. I felt she didn't listen carefully to my history and then made premature assumptions about me that led her to the wrong conclusion. She did not listen to why I was there and did not help me at all. I felt she was just interested in making sure my insurance company paid her on time.
Psychotherapy is a dynamic process. Diagnosis and treatment planning are key to recovery. Mental health disorders and conditions often feel stigmatizing and on occasion, a client may not be open to understanding and accepting the feedback they ask for, particularly when it involves longstanding personality complications that perpetuate self victimization. Seek and Ye Shall Find. You only get out of it what you put into it. The opportunity to share this concern directly was missed here, sadly.
