Deborah is an extremely warm and caring professional. I saw her over the course of several years. She saw me through the loss of a loved one, career change, my marriage, infertility, and my transition to being a father to my children. She helped me gain insight about myself and others along the way. You will be hard pressed to find a better skilled counselor in Oakland.

I have seen several therapists in my life but she is my hands-down favorite. She is warm and she doesn't just ask "How does that make you feel?' but engages in actual conversation that is very helpful. She is very insightful. I love her.

Dr. Blackburn saw me primarily. She agreed to see my husband separately. After a few separate sessions, I realized why it is that therapists do NOT do this--it is a clear conflict of interest. Our communication diminished as we both came home feeling justified due to the conflicting support she gave each of us. It has been almost 2 years since I saw her; my husband and I are now divorced. After having experienced a much more responsible therapist, I realize that she did my family no good.
