One on the stability of two-jaw orthognathic (reconstructive jaw) surgery and the other on facial proportions in the southern Chinese face. Dr. Hiranaka completed an integrated internship and residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. The program included 18 months of general surgery at the post-graduate year 2 and 3 levels, 2.5 years of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery (analogous to orthopedic surgery of the jaws and facial skeleton) which included rotations in Plastic/Craniofacial surgery (6 months) at Children’s Hospital in Boston and 6 months of anesthesia (Massachusetts General Hospital). From 1993-1994 Dr. Hiranaka completed a year-long Clinical Fellowship in Facial Cosmetic Surgery at the Institute of Facial Surgery in Salt Lake City. Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Hiranaka "Dr. David K. Hiranaka has been practicing in Kailua-Kona since 1994 with the objective of providing comprehensive, quality maxillofacial, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery care to the residents of Kona, Kohala, Waimea and the entire Big Island of Hawai’i. The practice has grown to attract patients from the entire state of Hawai’i as well as from the mainland.

Dr. Hiranaka introduced many advanced techniques and state-of-the art technologies to the Big Island. He was the first to perform CO2 laser skin resurfacing beginning in 1995 and endoscopic brow-lifting in 1997. His practice introduced microdermabrasion to the Big Island in 1998 and was the first office in the state to offer the long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser for hair removal in the summer of 2000. Other recent technologies have included non-ablative laser skin therapy, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy for pigmented lesions, vascular laser treatments, photodynamic therapy (for sun-damaged skin) and the Titan infrared light treatment to non-surgically tighten skin."

Patient Comments (1)

Dr. Hiranaka and his staff are extremely professional and efficient. They worked me in with a very painful cracked tooth. Oral surgery is not fun but this was the best of the best. In the blink of an eye the IV was in and they were waking me up saying it was all over. I could not recommend them...more
