I studied and tutored mathematics while I attended my local community college. After a few changes in my major, I decided to transfer to UCLA and get my B.S. in Mathematics / Applied Science. After shadowing an optometry practice thanks to the career center at UCLA and some friendly UCLA alumni, I decided to pursue a career in optometry. Prior to optometry school, I was always in the top 10% of my classes based on my grades. Berkeley was a different story. I was surrounded by some amazing students, with a variety of different experiences and talents. The curriculum was much more comprehensive than I had expected. During this time we were trained in Evidence Based Optometry, which is basically where the science meets the clinic. After graduating with my Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree in 2012, I moved back to my home town and worked for a private practice. I moved to Stanislaus County in 2016 where I started my own practice.

Learn about Dr. Border
I like to educate my patients about what I am finding during the course of the eye exam. I will explain the range of possible outcomes and the different treatment options. Some patients will find this to be too much information and just ask me what I recommend. Some patients appreciate the information and will take charge in the management of any medical condition he or she may have.
