Dr. Poly is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator with over 16 years of experience in medical and community nutrition. She is a graduate of Framingham State College earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food and Nutrition with a minor in Biology and a Master's Degree in Nutrition Education. Her clinical experience includes Beth Israel-Deaconess outpatient obesity clinic, inpatient clinical dietitian at Metrowest Medical Center, Braintree Rehab, and Mass Respiratory Care. In addition, she worked for many years with the Neurology group at the Framingham Heart Study primarily on dementia research projects. Her community experience includes teaching community nutrition classes on subjects such as 'Stabilizing Blood Sugars in Diabetes', 'Heart Health', 'Eating Well, while Dining Out', and 'Healthy cooking tips'. She also became a Certified Health Teacher and taught Health to elementary school children at the Miller Elementary school. There she advocated for children's health, better school lunches and after school programs that encourage activity in children. The latter part of her career was focused in Extended Care Facilities across Massachusetts providing clinical and food service counseling for the geriatric and sub-acute populations. She has worked tirelessly on healthier menus and enhanced nutritional services for this population. She is the primary author of "Diet & Dining Manual for Extended Care in a Culture Change Environment" which has been adapted in many facilities across New England, and is beginning to be recognized nationally. Dr. Poly has a strong background in Diabetes, Cardiac Health and Older Adult Nutrition. She recently completed the diabetic certification course "Stepping up to Insulin: Rational Approaches to Intensifying Treatment in Type 2 Diabetes." She continues to provide community nutrition education to senior populations in Senior Centers, Assisted Living and Independent Living Communities. Dr. Poly received her doctorate degree in Medical Nutrition Sciences at Boston University, School of Medicine, and received the Julie Award for her research on Choline Intake and Alzheimer's disease. Her manuscript has just been approved for publication by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition for her research on Choline's role in Cognitive improvement and Brain health. She also received the 2016 Abbott Leadership Award for development in nutrition programs for the adult and older adult populations. Dr. Poly currently is a Private Practitioner and Director of Dining and Nutrition Services for Salmon Health and Retirement. In addition, she teaches a graduate course at Framingham State University promoting accurate nutrition information and education for the adult and older adult populations search donediet.

As a dietitian and diabetic educator I believe strongly that changes in diet and lifestyle will improve chronic conditions and prevent diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and osteoporosis. Accurate research-based nutrition education can provide the tools needed for proper health and balanced diet.
