This content was provided by Dr. Avery-Clark "Want to improve your sexual relationship? Your couples relationship? Your relationship with yourself? As an AASECT-certified and Masters & Johnson-trained sex and relationship therapist, and as a depth-oriented psychologist, I can help with: intensive sex and couples therapy; short-term, individual, cognitive behavioral treatment; and longer-term, analytically-oriented psychotherapy. My therapeutic specialties are: sexual dysfunctions, disorders, and enhancement; couples and relationship issues; cognitive-behavioral therapy; and individual psychotherapy for concerns of identity, meaning, and self-development. We cherish our relationships with both others and with ourselves but we have so little guidance about effectively living and communicating within them. This is unfortunate when there are simple approaches that can transform a sexual relationship into a truly intimate one, a couples relationship into a truly cooperative & affectionate one, and a relationship with yourself into a deeply meaningful and lifelong adventure. I have been a Licensed Psychologist for 33 years. I am a Certified Diplomate in Sexual Therapy, American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists, and formerly served as Clinical & Research Associate at Masters & Johnson Insititute for five years. I have two Ph.D.s, the first in Clinical Psychology (from USC), and the second in Psychology-Jungian Studies (Saybrook University). I attended a training program in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy at the Albert Ellis Institute. I am a published author of articles, a book chapter, and a book on the topics of sexuality and relationships. "

I usually begin with an intensive therapeutic orientation to whatever concern is presented (whether it be sexual, relational, or individual), suggesting the most efficient and effective short-term approach. Often, this is all that is necessary. However, if the client needs or wants to explore additional issues in greater depth, we shift to a more detailed, comprehensive, and dynamic approach to therapy. We focus on concerns of meaning, self-identity, and the recovery of personal authority in one's life."
