This content was provided by Dr. Shaw "I believe the body is designed to heal its self. If your lifestyle or an environmental factor is in opposition of this innate healing potential disease will manifest over time. Before disease occurs there are many signs and symptoms that your body will use to warn you. Overlooking these symptoms by taking medications and not addressing the root of the problem will allow the disease process to continue.
There are many ways to interpret blood work and clinical presentations. Waiting for pathology and disease to be present in the blood work is waiting for disease to occur. Functional medicine/clinical nutrition is designed to identify signs and symptoms early and correct the "why" behind the symptoms before a pathologic process has been established. If pathology already exists, the body can still heal if the root of the problem has been identified and addressed."
