Dr. Williams' bio

This content was provided by Dr. Williams "I work for Peninsula Community Health Services (PCHS) in behavioral health at the Port Orchard location. I have been a psychiatric nurse since 1991 and a nurse practitioner since 2012. I became a doctor of psychiatric nursing practice because of my passion for healthcare integration, and the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to poor health outcomes. The past decade of genetic research reveals a deeper level of complexity than we have known before, and continues to rapidly evolve, making it critical to remain current. Doctoral education has prepared me to provide advanced care that includes physical examination and advanced diagnostic psychiatric medication evaluation, the ability to identify organization system process improvement opportunities and implement them as part of a team, integrate care through policy development and cross-discipline collaboration, educate colleagues at the national level, and act as a resource for internal programs and outside agencies. Special interest areas include fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, adverse childhood experiences, resiliency, substance abuse, patient education, genetic impact on medication metabolism, and non-pharmacological mental health treatment interventions."

Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Williams ""We are all connected...What we do and say to each other matters profoundly"

I believe that every person who walks through my door already has everything they need inside themselves to heal. My job is to listen to what an individual is experiencing, provide a safe environment where they can identify what gets in the way of reaching their dreams, and empower them to find their own solutions. Treatment options include education, medication, and an array of evidence-based non-pharmacological interventions patients can choose from to promote their own recovery. There is hope!"
