Cathy Amenta is the owner of Amenta Massage & Bodywork which is located in downtown Salida, CO. She specializes in the relief of headaches, neck pain, back pain, hip pain and shoulder pain. Cathy is state Licensed and Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork on the National level and is a Reiki Master. She graduated with top honors and a GPA of 4.0 from the Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado in 1998 in their 1050 hour program. She draws on almost 20 years of experience, education and intuitive insight to provide professional bodywork that focus's on relief from acute and chronic pain and stress reduction. "So many people view massage as a luxury, but it's not. It's fundamental in overall body health." Cathy's high level of integrity, professionalism, and her love of Therapeutic Massage inspires her to attend continuing education courses on a regular basis to stay current with all state licensing requirements and national certifications. She has been a professional member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals since 1997. "It really is my passion: helping people find relief from physical pain so they can be fully active in their lives again. This is really a wonderful gift to give to others." Cathy is a lifetime athlete and a native to Colorado. In high school she won the 1985 Colorado women's state Track & Field Championship in the 100 meter hurdles, and went on to be a competitive college runner and high jumper at Western State University in Gunnison, CO. Today she enjoys hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, fly fishing and telemark skiing. She also won the Monarch Mountain Town Challenge for the fastest women's telemark skier in 2015. Being out in nature is what nurtures her soul and replenishes her. You can often find her out on the local trails. She also enjoys cooking, meditation, Pilates, jewelry making and art. Cathy also volunteers a lot of her time to local organizations. She is currently the Co-Chair for the Crestone Wilderness Stewards who is a proud chapter of GARNA. She also serves on the Saguache County Search & Rescue team, and is a founding member of the Crestone Nordic Ski Alliance. Giving back to her community is an important part of her daily life. Cathy's life changed drastically in March of 2015 when she was diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian Cancer. She sought out allopathic and holistic treatments to cure herself. The doctors gave her a 12% survival rate. The cancer had spread to her abdominal wall, diaphragm and lymph nodes. She went through a clinical trial of six rounds of chemo at CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Denver. She also worked closely with a Holistic team of doctor's who provided DNA testing, Mind/Body counseling, Acupuncture, massage, colonics, and diet which included vitamins & supplements. She successfully beat the odds and is completely cancer free today. Cathy is currently speaking and coaching others about her journey to help educate and empower those who might find themselves on a similar path.
