Dr. Carolyn Hunter completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Alberta in Canada in 1986. Following graduation she continued her studies in the field of Psychoneuroimmunology and became fascinated with the powerful relationship between our thoughts and attitudes and our health. This proved to be a natural segue into the study of Chiropractic. In 1996 she began her graduate studies at Life University in Atlanta, Ga graduating magna cum laude as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2000. Upon graduation, Dr. Hunter first practiced in Europe where she had the opportunity to practice in both hospital based and private practice settings. She began extensive training in Chiropractic Neurology in London with the Carrick Institute and is currently working toward Board Certification in this Specialty. In addition to pursuing advanced training in neurology she has participated in post graduate training in a broad spectrum of clinical techniques including Chiropractic Biophysics, Sacral Occipital Technique, Activator Methods, and Pediatrics. She has had the privilege of working with a wide spectrum of patients in her practice all with unique and varied needs and goals. Dr. Hunter relocated to South Carolina with her family in 2005 and has been practicing in the Charleston area ever since. Her focus has always been geared toward optimizing human performance and wellness by helping her patients achieve their personal best. She is nationally certified in Non –Surgical spinal decompression, her ability to treat disc injuries makes her the ideal choice as Back Pain is the # 1 Cause for disability and worker compensation claims in America. Dr. Hunter was the first female doctor chosen to serve on the International Advisory Board on Spinal Decompression, whose honorary chairman is Neurosurgeon Dr. Norman Shealy, who was educated at Duke Medical School and taught at Harvard Medical School.
