This content was provided by Benjamin Dierauf "As an experienced acupuncturist, my goal is to give you safe, gentle and effective acupuncture care, and to educate you on how you can use the principles of Oriental Medicine to improve your health. With over 22 years of experience as a Licensed Acupuncturist, I can help you with the treatment of aches and pains, injuries, digestive disorders, gynecological issues, allergies, immune deficiencies, fatigue, sleep disorders and stress, along with many other conditions. Your first visit will include a detailed intake of the issues affecting your health and quality of life. From this we will work out a comprehensive treatment plan together. Besides acupuncture, I may prescribe herbal medicine and use other modalities to help you, including bodywork, moxa, suction cups and guasha(dermal scraping). As a former Professor and Academic Dean of the Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College, Berkeley, I have a unique perspective on the strengths and benefits of this ancient medicine, its integration with modern medicine, and how it can benefit you. If you end up feeling like you aren't making the progress you'd like to see, I'll make sure you get an appropriate referral. Acupuncture & Oriental Medical Education I received my BS in Nutrition and Food Science from UC Berkeley in 1986. After exposure to acupuncture while teaching English and studying Chinese in Taiwan, I studied and received my MS in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1991. Since then I've taken and produced numerous continuing education classes to further my growth and development with the medicine. Some of my more influential teachers include Doctors Yitian Ni, Pingqi Kang, Robert Dreyfuss, Richard Tan, Robert Chu, and Kiiko Matsumoto. Experience I began practicing privately in Berkeley and San Francisco in 1992. I also worked extensively at two community clinics in San Francisco, the Quan Yin Healing Arts Center and Immune Enhancement Project (IEP), and supervised clinic interns at the AIMC Berkeley Community Clinic. My private practice is now at Lamorinda Healing Arts in Lafayette, CA. I worked at the Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College, Berkeley from 1996 to 2012. My roles included Academic Dean, Advisor to the President, Student Clinic Intern Supervisor, and I also taught classes in Oriental Medicine Theory, Oriental Medicine Diagnosis, General Chemistry, and Organic & Biochemistry. As the Academic Dean I led curriculum and program development. Acupuncture Honors & Awards I've been recognized and honored for my work in the field of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, including "Acupuncturist of the Year" by the American Association of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) in 2003, "Professional Excellence Award" by the National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedics in 2004, and "Pioneer of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine" by the AAAOM in 2007."

While the needles themselves have no medicine on them, your body gets stimulated to do what it needs to initiate healing and bring itself back into balance. As the medicine is wholistic in nature, not only do your primary symptoms improve 90% of the time, but other aspects of your life come in to balance as well."
