This content was provided by Amber Hincks "Amber Hincks, LAc is an acupuncturist and herbalist who uses the tools of Chinese medicine to guide patients on their own healing journey. Her passion for traditional medicine comes from a belief that emotional well being is intertwined with physical wellness, and therefore the best treatments are holistic in nature. She is inspired by both the poetry and history of Chinese Medicine as well as its many practical applications, particularly with the treatment of pain. Her training in shiatsu, tuina and Thai massage as well as advanced orthopedic needling enhances her ability to resolve even the most stubborn aches and injuries. Amber was long enamored with motherhood when she began working in a women's health clinic and realized she was also intrigued by the medical side of womanhood. Prior to becoming an acupuncturist, she worked in fertility clinics in Vermont and Oregon and while she was fascinated with what seems to be the height of modern medicine – in vitro fertilization – she is even more in awe of what Chinese Medicine can do. She has since devoted much of her studies and practice on supporting women in their journey toward the creation of a family. It is rewarding to witness the joys and triumphs as well as the struggles. Currently, she is working toward certification with the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine, which involves advanced study in both the western and eastern approaches to fertility treatment. Amber is also an Herbal Practicum Instructor at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. "

It also takes into account the environment in which an individual lives, including the climate and season. The intention is to not only determine the cause of the disease, but to understand where it came from and where it is headed. Acupuncture is most effectively applied when used in accordance with these principles."
