Dr. MacGill's bio

This content was provided by Dr. MacGill "Dr. MacGill was born and raised in Tampa and has spent most of his life in the great state of Florida. He attended the University of Florida where he majored in Pre Medical studies and minored in Sociology, earning his Bachelor of Science degree cum laude. He then traveled to Chicago, Illinois on scholarship to attend the William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. MacGill graduated in the top 10 percentile of his class and was matched with his first choice for residency at Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida, focusing on reconstructive and trauma surgery of the foot and ankle. During his tenure in residency, Dr. MacGill completed numerous surgical training courses with an emphasis on internal and external fixation techniques, diabetic limb salvage, and reconstructive adult and pediatric foot and ankle surgery. He published articles in Podiatry Today and the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, presented numerous poster abstracts at national surgical conferences, and gave award-winning case presentations at state scientific meetings. In 2007, he was selected for a prestigious AO International Trauma Fellowship with Sigvard Hansen, Jr., MD, Chairman Emeritus-Orthopedics at the University of Washington's School of Medicine and the Director of the Foot and Ankle Institute at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Hansen is recognized by many as the father of modern traumatology and a pioneer in foot and ankle surgical techniques. Dr. MacGill completed the fellowship in the spring of 2009, gaining additional training in complex Charcot foot and ankle reconstruction as well as total ankle replacement. Dr. MacGill is board certified by The American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in foot surgery as well as reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and has volunteered on their Consumer Education Committee for many years, recently serving as their Committee Chair. He also serves as the President for the ACFAS Southeast Region. He is also a member in good standing with the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Florida Podiatric Medical Association, and is the Vice President of the Palm Beach County Podiatric Medical Association. He is one of a handful of specialists in Palm Beach and Broward counties currently performing total ankle replacement with preoperative CT-guided navigation and custom cutting guides: a technological advancement that improves implant placement and longevity. Recognizing the importance of education and surgical training, Dr. MacGill serves as the Director of the Foot & Ankle Surgery Residency program at Northwest Medical Center in Margate, FL. He also serves as the Research Director for the Bethesda Health Foot & Ankle Surgery Residency program. He is a Certified Wound Specialist (CWS), recognized by the American Board of Wound Management, and treats problematic lower extremity wounds at two local wound care and hyperbaric medicine centers. Dr. MacGill is on staff at multiple area hospitals and surgery centers and regularly sees patients in Coral Springs. In his spare time Dr. MacGill enjoys triathlon training, softball, cycling, and spending time with his wife and two children."

Very pleased with Dr. MacGill. Took time to explain my injury and show me my MRI and options. The office staff is a whole other story. They are incompetent! I have never had a decent experience with any department. Still waiting for an overpayment refund payment since Jan. 4. Appointment was made...Read More

I have been to 4 different podiatrists in the past year. My results were very unfavorable. Dr. McGill is in a category all his own. He took the time to tell me what he saw, and gave me different options and treatments. He was in my opinion how any doctor should be. I highly recommend him.
