Dr. Phillips' Care Philosophy
Valerie Phillips, ND, is an alternative primary care doctor serving residents of communities throughout Southern California. As a naturopathic physician, Dr. Phillips believes that the human body is inherently self-healing and self-regulating when given a healing internal and external environment. That's why she strives to deliver gentle, effective, whole-person care designed to remove the barriers to good health and address the underlying cause of her patient's imbalances. Dr. Phillips sees patients at 3 state-of-the-art medical offices conveniently located in Los Angeles, Tehachapi, and Bishop, California. A native of Los Angeles, Dr. Phillips began studying the medical arts as a teenager while attending one of LA's prestigious magnet high schools. She studied Biochemistry at the University of California, Davis, and subsequently pursued research in neuropathology at University of California, San Francisco. During this time, Dr. Phillips also volunteered at the Berkeley Free Clinic and at the Native American Health Center in San Francisco, where she delivered limited primary care services to underserved populations in the Bay area and gained experience as a lay healthcare worker. Based on that experience, Dr. Phillips made the decision to follow her long-term interest in eastern and alternative forms of medicine by pursuing a naturopathic medical degree at Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington. The education she received while there was a well-balanced blend of western scientific medical thought combined with herbal traditions from across the globe, nutrition, physical medicine and other disciplines designed to reveal the many aspects of the human body as a holistic unit. In addition to her eclectic Bastyr education, Dr. Phillips has also pursued study in the areas of yoga, raw foods nutrition, and detoxification medicine. She offers patients a wide variety of convenient in-office services, including: Women's health (all aspects) Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) Digestive system healing and therapeutic diets Cognitive enhancement therapy Cardiovascular disease management Respiratory disease management Natural therapeutics for autoimmune diseases Adjunctive cancer therapeutics IV nutrition and chelation detoxification therapy Therapeutic treatments for joint pain and inflammation
