She holds a master's degree in Oriental medicine and herbology from South Baylo University, CA as well as a PhD in acupuncture from American Liberty University, CA. She holds a diplomat in Chinese herbology and a diplomat in acupuncture from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Advanced training and certification in applied clinical nutrition. Dr. Bennett has 10 years of experience working side by side with Internal medicine doctors within a medical group. Through this practice, Dr. Bennett learned the importance of co-managing your care with your MD. She believes keeping an open dialogue with your primary care provider or your specialist is the best way to ensure you receive the treatment that best benefits you. In fact, internists, pain management specialists, neurologists, gastroenterologists, and other types of MDs regularly refer their patients to Dr. Bennett. As a practitioner of integrative medicine, Dr. Bennett has a passion for treating the side effects of cancer treatments, GI problems, fertility concerns, weight problems, digestive issues and stroke patients as well as chronic pain and other types of injury. Our Integrative Approach… At Bennett Acupuncture and Functional Medicine, we know your body is an ever changing system so we have designed a vital patient-centered approach to treat your needs as an individual. Most physicians of Western medicine practice acute care—a short interval of treatment to alleviate immediate symptoms of an illness with condition specific remedies like surgery or drugs. Here at Bennett Acupuncture, we believe in addressing the whole patient, not just an isolated set of symptoms. While we specialize in acupuncture, we are one of just a handful of clinics in the country that offers everything in-house that vitality requires. If you are looking for acupuncture, herbal medicine, functional medicine, Oriental medicine, nutrition or weight loss, we have a doctor for you. Our combination of acupuncture and functional medicine to treat chronic conditions further sets us apart from the competition. This is a unique approach to better health rarely found elsewhere. Functional medicine—a revolutionary form of assessing your health with an integrative approach—uses advanced laboratory testing, nutrition and lifestyle as factors in determining your treatment. Here at Bennett Acupuncture, we practice functional medicine to complement herbal medicine and acupuncture in what we call the Bennett Method. This method is a powerful combination to speeding up the healing process and maintaining better health.

I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. In order to get services in this office, you are forced to give away your social security. Though this doctor had my Authorization, copy of my driver license, insurance card, and a call from my insurance company confirming my identity and 100% coverage, she refused to treat me without my SSN. Even after giving her my SSN, she refused to treat me,though she knew she was the only provider under my health plan. Oath of Hippocratus means nothing to her.

Dr. Bennett says...

Here are the most common frequently asked questions about acupuncture…Can Acupuncture Help My Condition?

We are not exaggerating when we say there are hundreds of conditions, disorders and diseases that acupuncture can effectively treat. Unfortunately, due to the fact that all conditions are unique and specific to the individual, there is no clean-cut answer whether your specific condition will benefit from acupuncture treatments. In order to find out if your specific condition is treatable through acupuncture, you will need to have a complete acupuncture exam done by a certified and experienced practitioner. He or she will be able to determine and diagnose the underlying causes of your condition based on your symptoms and unique medical history. The practitioner will then be able to tailor a treatment to the uniqueness of your condition. He or she will also be able to recommend if you would benefit from another alternative treatment such as cupping or moxibustion, as well. Please click here for a list of conditions treatable by acupuncture.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

In the majority of cases, people have reported feeling a quick pinch, pressure, tingling, or heaviness in an arm or leg. If you do experience any pain at all, the pain subsides as quickly as it came about. While this may be a scary thought, the pain is actually a good sign. Feeling pain during acupuncture simply means that the acupuncture is working. Pain is our body's way of alerting us something is happening. When pain is felt, it is a result a channel becoming unblocked, allowing the Qi to flow freely through it. It is normal to be nervous about your first session, however once the session is underway, many patients feel very relaxed and even fall asleep.

Are There Other Forms Of Treatment Besides Needle Insertion?

Yes. There are several alternative treatments to relieve your symptoms and treat your condition. Your practitioner may use their hands to put pressure on particular acupuncture points. They may also use a variety of mechanical devices like a jar for example, to stimulate affected areas, as well as, warming the desired area by burning herbs. To view a list of different treatment options available, please click here.

Is Acupuncture Safe?

Acupuncture is extremely safe. A licensed Acupuncturist uses sterilized needles, which are properly disposed of in accordance with health regulations. To learn more about the set up of an acupuncturist's treatment room, please visit our acupuncture page by clicking here.

How Many Sessions Do I Need?

Most conditions require between 6 and 10 sessions to effectively treat or alleviate a problem. However, this is only an average and varies based upon your symptoms, concerns, condition, and the severity of your condition. Some conditions like neck pain may only require one session while other chronic conditions require extended treatment. When you visit a clinic for your initial examination, your acupuncturist will evaluate your condition and be able to tailor a treatment plan with the approximate amount of sessions that are right for you.

How Should I Prepare For My Session?

Wear loose clothing to allow access to acupuncture points. Have a light meal or snack shortly before your treatment. Acupuncture treatments are relaxing and often leave a patient in a state of peace and calm so you may want to take into consideration your plans before and after your session. Certain treatments, including those used in combination with cupping, may require you to walk around following your treatment so make sure to inquire about any post-session requirements when you call to schedule your appointment.

What Training Is Required to Practice Acupuncture?

A licensed acupuncturist must complete rigorous education requirements. These requirements differ from state to state, however, obtaining a license generally takes three to four years of extensive study followed by at least a one year internship. Most states also require certification with the NAACOM or The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. This certification ensures your acupuncturist upholds the strictest guidelines and meets strict national standards when practicing acupuncture.  Dr. Bennett holds a master in oriental medicine  and acupuncture. Dr. Bennett is a in an elite group of Acupuncturist having two national credentials and California license, plus also an Phd.

How Much Does Acupuncture Cost?

Because acupuncture treatments are tailored for each individual and their condition, acupuncture sessions vary in price. Generally, an acupuncture session can cost between $50 and $125. Many insurance companies cover much of the cost of acupuncture treatments, but insurance coverage varies. I am a provider for most major medical insurance companies, however, it is important to consult your medical insurance carrier and ask about your specific healthcare plan.  You may also call my office.  We will be happy to answer your questions and verify your benefits and coverage.
