Dr. Cawley provides evidence-based psychological services, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to his clients. He works with adolescents, adults, and seniors, and notes that populations of particular interest to him include individuals with depression and anxiety, developmental challenges, and substance abuse issues. Family and couples counseling are also strong clinical interests. Additionally, he focuses on working with clients to improve their quality of life in many areas, including developing more effective conflict-resolution skills, coping with post-traumatic stress, and dealing with grief and loss issues.
Dr. Cawley earned his PhD in Counselor Education from the University of Florida after completing his pre-doctoral internship at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. He earned his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study and Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, as well as his Bachelors Degree in Sociology, from Boston University. Dr. Cawley is licensed to practice Psychology in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He is a member of the New Hampshire Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. Dr. Cawley has a diverse clinical background. He has worked extensively in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including Brookside Hospital (Nashua), Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center (Greenfield), Easter Seal Society (Manchester), and Northeast Psychiatric Associates (Peterborough), among others. He has also functioned as a clinical supervisor of psychologists, social workers, and mental health counselors at a number of those facilities, including 26 years at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center.
