      Dr. Zakhari says

      From a patient in NYC:

"You are very mindful actually. It is why I feel so comfortable with you. Not just walk in a take off your clothes and have the doctor be abrupt and walk out. It is shared goal, my health - or at least that is the way I see it. Your exam seems thorough - I guess the difference is being in my own apartment."

Before Raymond, I didn't have any experience with concierge care. This experience has changed me... no more waiting rooms, no more waiting for call backs... I texted (yes, texted) Ray and my concerns were addressed immediately. Excellent care from a highly knowledgeable, professional and personable medical professional... what more could I ask for?

      Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.

      Dr. Zakhari says...

I provide care for people with complex combined medical and psychiatric problems in the privacy of their home, office or hotel in New York City. Patients enjoy the convenience & discretion in discussing their most intimate problems ranging from coping with a new mental illness, sexual issues, addictions, and life transitions.

As a double board certified family & psychiatric nurse practitioner, I use a bio-psychosocial spiritual approach to provide comprehensive, compassionate, confidential care including diagnosing both medical & psychiatric conditions, order and interpret diagnostic tests & prescribe medications in conjunction with psychotherapy, and coaching.

Chronic medical conditions often take a psychological toll. Conversely psychiatric problems can effect medical conditions. Many times an undiagnosed medical condition can produce psychiatric symptoms from depression, anxiety, inattention, sexual dysfunction, and impulsiveness. I use pharmacogenomic testing to personalize pharmacological treatments to reduce the traditional trial & error common in psychiatry.

Psychiatric and Medical house calls that are high tech and high touch. I use an electronic health record & patient portal. Established patients can have web camera sessions, text, email, and electronic prescriptions. I do offer genetic testing to guide therapy. In private practice since 2009.

      Dr. Zakhari's Care Philosophy

The reasons people choose to access health care are unique to their individual experiences. Many patients seek to have relief of symptoms, some seek to enhance current health, others seek to have a trusted advisor, while others are afraid of a potential diagnosis.

This practice is different than the experience you may have had with a doctor in the past. Patients are given the respect and care they expect. You are encouraged to ask questions, and gather information from multiple sources.

      • Home visits
      • Telemedicine
      • Health Education and Counseling
      • Psychiatric and General Medical care
      • One Stop shop
      • High tech and high touch

People are often embarrassed by their problems and feel as if no one else could possibly understand. Patients also do not want to spend a half a day in the waiting room only to be hurried along. If you are ready for integrated primary care delivered the way it ought to be, then request an appointment (www.MetroMedicalDirect.com)

      Dr. Zakhari says...

Having word in a variety of settings ranging from the Cardiothoracic ICU at Duke University Medical Center to the ICUs and ER throughout New York City, and the battle field of Iraq as an Air Force officer I bring a unique experience to understanding the individual and the context they bring to bear upon their condition.

I have pursued advanced graduate training in Family Practice, Adult and Geriatric care and Family Psychiatry. This allows me to offer the patient a comprehensive approach to care without excessively referring them to specialist after specialist.

I provide relationship based participatory care to patients in Manhattan in their comfort of their home.
